SHiiP launches warehouse management software, expands operations into warehouse and order fulfilment
Nigerian-based global logistics aggregator, SHiiP, has launched a new warehouse and inventory management software that will enable small and e-commerce businesses to deliver to their customers anywhere in the world.
A statement released and signed by the startup’s Marketing Lead, Semiloore Akoni, recently explained that the new software will enable businesses to set up branches in new locations without the compliance issues and high operational costs associated with it.
SHiiP takes away the burden of sourcing for storage space from businesses by providing storage and logistics infrastructure and also managing the end-to-end order fulfilment process thereby making it easier for businesses to grow their operations to new regions without owning a storage facility.
Businesses can store products, monitor available stocks and manage inventory using the SHiiP web application www.goshiip.com or on the mobile application.
Akoni stated that merchants and businesses using SHiiP’s warehouse management software have access to real-time data on stock levels, inventory as well as climate-controlled storage facilities.
“It’s important for business owners in Africa to have access to the best storage facilities as e-commerce continues to grow in our continent,” Akoni said in the statement.
“Storage infrastructure is still not where we’d like it to be and it has been a pain point businesses and, even farmers, have had to contend with in the past. Since issues like this still happen, businesses continue to suffer avoidable losses that stifle growth. With SHiiP, business owners can rest assured that their goods will always be carefully handled and stored in climate-controlled storage facilities so that it reaches the end-users or customers in the best state possible.”
The launch of the warehouse and inventory management software is coming off the back of the startup’s expansion into warehousing and order management & fulfilment business.
Chief Executive Officer of SHiiP, Quadry Olalekan, said the company’s expansion into fulfilment is part of its desire to make doing business easier for businesses, no matter their size.
“Our main aim is to provide small and medium scale businesses, be it fintech companies, retailers, logistics or small business owners, the right support they need to succeed” Quadry explained.
“Since the past three years, we have aggregated delivery and logistics services for thousands of businesses. We understand the challenges and peculiarities that come with managing deliveries to Nigerian, African, and broadly, International customers, therefore, the expansion of our services to include warehousing and inventory management is a natural progression.”
Also, the COO & Head of Product, Ridwan Rasheed, added that the new software will help transform the supply chain for businesses using it.
“Today is a great day for African businesses starting from Nigeria, they now have in their hands a solution that manages their supply chain from end to end. For us at Shiip, this is a further crystallisation of our vision to help businesses transform their supply chain from a cost centre into a catalyst for business growth. With our warehousing solution and others in our ecosystem, they can customize a tailor-made experience for their customers and delight them every time.”
Currently, with over 82 courier networks across Africa, SHiiP is the official logistics partner for Flutterwave Store, ThankUCash, Klasha and SunFI.
