World-class tech hubs to learn high-income tech skills at no cost or at an incredibly discounted price.
Itβs no longer a secret the opportunities a career in technology offers. The opportunities are boundless and could quadruple the lifestyle, finance and network of anyone who cares to learn a technology skill.
But it all starts with taking the first step of deciding to learn, having a structured curriculum and conducive learning environment. The failure of most people to find these necessary prerequisites in their tech career formative years causes them to give up.
However, there are world-class tech hubs that provide these resources at no cost, others at an incredibly discounted price. They are driven by the desire to fill the local talent gap and make Africa the top of mind region where global big tech companies recruit and export tech talents.

Ingressive for Good Zuri Training
Amidst other scholarship programs they offer, Zuri training by I4G is currently helping participants to learn high-income skills such as Software development, Frontend Development, Backend development, Product Design, etc.
The fully-funded scholarship provides hands-on experience, real-life projects, and in-program mentorship and is beginner-friendly. The program is fully stacked to introduce and aid your success in the tech industry.
Google Africa Developer Scholarships
The Google Africa Developer Scholarship (GADS) program gives participants free access to select courses, projects and skill assessments; plus support from the Google Developer community.
The program trains software developers in different roles which are Associate Android Developer, Associate Cloud Engineer and Mobile Web Specialist. Participants have to be at least 18 years of age and be a resident of a country in Africa.
Microsoft 4Afrika Skillslab Partnership
Microsoft SkillsLab is an apprenticeship programme developed to upskill talented youth and address the digital skills gap in the industry. In 2021, they partnered with Andela Learning Community (ALC) to equip 3000 graduates from Nigeria with knowledge in advanced technologies.
There are currently 25 SkillsLabs operating in countries across Africa. The SkillsLab Program should run per cycle of up to 6 months β however, this may differ depending on the SkillsLab hosting partner.
An initiative of the African Leadership Group, the program is designed to provide Africans with the in-demand skills for the careers that power the world. The program is categorised under four major key areas: Technology, Finance, Entrepreneurship and Sales.
Sponsored by MasterCard Foundation and other partners the programme fees were waived in 2022. Monthly start dates let you kick off anytime and classes are hosted remotely, so you can access learning on your time from any place.

ALX Transforms Tech programme is a fully-funded scholarship providing 60,000 Udacity Tech Nanodegree Programs for African youth in 10 countries to enable them to become future leaders and entrepreneurs.
Udacity and alx are providing 60,000 scholarships to Africans. The foundational program for people with no tech experience is now open.

Developer Circles is a community-driven program that's free to join and open to any developer. Developer Circles are forums to share knowledge, collaborate, build new ideas, and learn about the latest technologies from Facebook and other industry leaders.
Whether a member of a circle is a student learning how to code, a developer looking to turn an idea into a reality, or an experienced coder searching for the latest Facebook product and open-source tool updates. The developer products you can share knowledge on include Artificial Intelligence, Augmented Reality /Virtual Reality, Gaming, Open source, Publishing, etc.
DevCareers Laptop 4 Developers
DevCareer Africa is an online community of Africans interested in tech. The aim of the community is to provide a safe space for beginners to communicate, get mentorship, and get access the opportunities we provide.
The community is open to everyone in the tech ecosystem irrespective of their major; Design, Coding, PM, etc. Laptops4Developers is a supportive ecosystem to support underrepresented folks in Africa with Laptops, Courses, Mentorship and mini-programs.
SantaBen Giveaway is an annual initiative aimed at improving the quality of tech talents (Product Managers, Designers and Developers) in Nigeria. It was started by Benjamin Dada and friends in 2019.
The program receives donations from friends and others interested in supporting the growing talent ecosystem in Nigeria. It also partners directly with training entities to get discounted prices for their courses.
