ProductDive, a community of over 1500 product management professionals, held its first hybrid gathering on Saturday, August 12th, 2023.

The event themed, The DIVE 2023, gathered product managers across various levels, tech founders, ecosystem enablers and enthusiasts all across the country for the one-day event.

ProductDive is a product school for product managers, anyone who wants to transition into product management and startup founders. It’s Product Management Course (PMC) provides practical, hands-on, full experiential course if you want to gain global standard knowledge in product thinking, product design, UX Research, product metrics, product strategy, Agile Development and Scrum Framework and many more.

During her welcome speech, the founder of ProductDive, Tobi Otokiti said that she became fascinated with the possibilities of technology at age 12 with gadgets like microwave and television.

According to Otokiti, “the goal of the Product Dive Conference was to help product managers discover the latest trends, share invaluable experiences, and forge connections that transcend borders and industries.

This is why we curated a line-up of an insightful keynote, interactive workshops, and engaging discussions that delve deep into the heart of modern product leadership.”

Alumni of Product Dive work in top companies like Google, Shopify, Microsoft, Paystack, Interswitch, Andela, Renmoney, Carbon, FairMoney, MTN, She Leads Africa, Fliqpay and GTB.

The DIVE 2023 event featured brilliant keynote sessions and stimulating conversations with various industry expert leads and career professionals.

During the keynote address, Ebi Atawodi Director of Product Management, Creator Experience, Google, said that the job of a product manager is to bring Clarity and Conviction. “As a product manager, document the problems people face on different levels: from top management down to the customer. On each of these levels, you need to document 10 top problems that are faced. When you are done with this, you will be able to see common problems that exist on all levels. These problems will help feed into the product strategy."

At the Fireside Chat, Chuka Ofili, Chief Product Officer, Flutterwave said, “Product managers need key skills like strategic thinking and forecasting. The problems are in the numbers. To prioritize what market you should go into, you need to get insights on the market, see the numbers and understand the market.”

Also, at the Ask Me Anything Session on “Crypto & Funding,” Yele Bademosi, the CEO/ Co-Founder at Nestcoin & Founding Partner at Microtraction advised product managers to find fundamental problems they can use technology to solve more than anybody else. “Getting into crypto now, when it's still early days, should be a priority for any experienced product manager.”
