African logistics startup Logidoo has recently secured a $50,000 grant fund. The cross-border e-commerce business aims to use the grant to promote AI solutions in the African market.

Founded in 2019, Logidoo was founded by Tamsir Ousmane Traore as an online logistics platform that offers logistics services and real-time package tracking.  Logidoo's long-term plan is to establish a highly efficient network, reduce operational costs and transit time, and better satisfy customers.

The $50,000 grant is from the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), part of Canada's foreign development efforts to support research and innovation in developing sectors.

The company plans to use the funding to simplify transactions and streamline transport operations, simplifying logistics processes across Africa. The funding will help the company focus its efforts on intelligent algorithms to map out delivery routes, cut travel times, and reduce fuel consumption and emissions.

Part of the funding will also go towards automating tasks and predictive maintenance to prevent costly breakdowns and repairs.

Earlier this year, the company raised  $1.55 million in seed funding from various venture capitalists including Nigeria's Founders Factory Africa. This helped the company to expand its operations to Senegal, Morocco, Ivory Coast, and Tunisia.

The company plans to take its operations to 10 new African countries in the next two years, increasing its customers by at least 50%
