HP to support Utiva's mission to empower Nigerian women with digital skills

Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HP), the US-based laptop manufacturer has announced its support for Utiva with $50,000 in funding.

The announcement came in a virtual HP-hosted even in July, 2021. The event, which brought together global leaders like Alex Cho—President of HP Inc's Personal Systems Business Group, Alex Amouyel—Executive Director of Solve, an MIT initiative and, Sarah Brown, Executive Chair of the Global Business Coalition, was tagged the "Action for Digital Equity".

Prior to the event date, Utiva had partnered with MIT Sole to provide Nucleus—a learning aid device that comes with over 40 pre-installed classes. The partnership came up during the event, when CEO of Utiva—Eyitayo Ogunmola, gave progress reports of what had been achieved so far.  

During the event, Alex Cho, made a commitment on behalf of the HP team to fun Utiva with a sum of 50,000 dollars to provide Nucleus Devices for girls and women. He also commited to further engagements with the African edutech company.

At the event, the CEO of Utiva, Eyitayo Ogunmola, mentioned the commitment to bringing down the barrier to learning for women on the continent through different initiatives designed for this purpose.

In 2022, Utiva will also be launching a 20% annualised discount to learn technology skills in Africa. This project will be designed to provide a new path to over 10,000 women and girls.
