Atlassian—makers of Jira and Trello—User Groups to hold her inaugural meetup in Lagos

Atlassian User Groups (AUGs) is holding her first Lagos meet up on Saturday, November 10, 2018.

Atlassian is behind many popular productivity and development tools like Trello, Jira, Confluence and Bitbucket.

The Australian but London-headquartered company has now reached over 120,000 customers in its more than 16 years of existence.

AUGs are communities of Atlassian customers who come together to network, share ideas, and find new ways to use their products.

They have run these groups for near a decade with more than 15,000 people taking part in over 30 countries. This year, they decided to expand to Nigeria, with their first event in Abuja on February 18.

Not just Lagos. Tech enthusiasts have complained that “all” the exciting tech events are usually in Lagos. But not so for Atlassian as they have meetups lined up in 3 other non-Lagos cities—Uyo (Akwa-Ibom), Keffi (Nasarrawa), and Bauchi (Bauchi).

AUG Lagos meetup

AUG Lagos meetup led by Victor Ichofu, a Technical Program Manager at Terragon Group, a data and marketing technology company promises a diverse and vibrant experience for attendees -- Product managers, developers, software testers, students and everyone using any of Atlassian’s products.

Benjamindada.com is the exclusive media sponsor for the event.

We are particularly excited about this event because of the gender balance and relatability that would come from each speaker's experience.

The speakers are Peter Daniels, an Agile Coach and Scrum Master at ALAT by WEMA with 12 years of experience building products across cross-functional teams. Such a speaker would appeal to experienced Product managers and users of Atlassian software.

But what happens to fresh graduates, career switchers, and women who are looking to get into the field of product management, software development and testing?

That’s why they have found an equally-capable female in the early phase of her career (under three years) to be one of the speakers for the meetup.
