Breakthrough innovations and collaborative ventures shine at Africa Technology Expo 2024
The Africa Technology Expo demonstrated its commitment to advancing Africa’s tech sector and fostering sustainable growth by bringing together over 4,000 stakeholders
The maiden edition of the African Technology Expo 2024 after two days of engaging discussions and networking among over 4,000 local and international stakeholders in Africa’s tech ecosystem has come to an end with stakeholders celebrating innovative ideas, resilient growth, and world-class talent. The expo themed, “Beyond Headlines to Solutions” was held on the 22nd of June 2024, at the Landmark Centre in Lagos, Nigeria.
Held under the support of the Lagos State Ministry of Innovation, Science & Technology, the Africa Technology Expo witnessed the presence of distinguished guests and leaders in the tech sector including Olatunbosun Alake, Honorable Commissioner for Innovation, Science & Technology, Lagos State. The expo also featured a developer’s circle connecting CTOs, developers and other technical talents; a panel session on funding, investment revenue; a pitch battleground featuring some of the most extraordinary inventions making the rounds in Africa’s tech ecosystem; and an MTN Fireside Chat.
Delivering the keynote address, Olatunbosun Alake, Commissioner for Innovation, Science & Technology, Lagos State, emphasized that “the government is committed towards creating an enabling environment where startups can thrive, where access to funding is facilitated and where the necessary infrastructures are in place to support the digital economy.” Alongside this, the minister also spoke on the growth of the startup ecosystem in the country. Being the centerpiece of commercial activities in Nigeria, Lagos is a pivotal area and the Lagos State Government are hands-on in supporting startups via funding and also providing the necessary means for them to grow.
Nnaemeka Clinton, Chief Innovation Officer, Africa Technology Expo, stated that “while it is necessary for technology to cater to the taste of the user, functionality is what defines its usage and necessity. Technology was made to solve our problems, not for us to be obliged by its looks”
